We're thrilled to be kicking off our 2nd season of house concerts with none other than our good friends from Vancouver Island who will be in Montreal for the Folk Alliance conferance.
Genevieve Charbonneau (Heartwood, Genevieve and the Wild Sundays) and Jeremy Walsh (Scruj Macduhk, Jeremy Walsh Band) are award-winning songwriters from Vancouver Island, Canada. Genevieve and Jeremy have recently come together to form the folk-pop trio (with Stephanie Cutler) Firebird, thrilling audiences with their gorgeous harmonies and catchy, well-crafted songs. Genevieve’s adventures in eco-homesteading, parenting and love, and Jeremy’s explorations into Irish traditional music and Canadian blue-collar life have formed the foundation of their musical co-adventures together. Both are engaging, energetic performers and their honesty, wisdom and humor form the backbone of their live show.
Genevieve’s 2023 single “Symphony of Sorrow” placed in the top three of the Folk category in the International John Lennon Songwriting Competition. “Down Down Down” won the 2017 BC Musicians Songwriters Contest and was a finalist in the 2017 International Acoustic Music Awards. Jeremy was winner of 2007 Songwriter of the Year at Vancouver Island Music Awards, and a collaborator on Scruj Macduhk’s Juno Award nominated album ‘Road to Canso’, which won Best Roots Album and Best Independent Album at the Canadian Prairie Music Awards in 2000.
