Laurel Circle is a gifted elder musician who loves nature, friends, spirit and music; she believes they're all connected. Raised in New England, U.S., she studied voice and choir and became a folk singer in the 60's. Later moving to California, she finished college and explored up the west coast, carrying her big guitar, to beautiful Canada. In the 80's she settled and married on remote Lasqueti Island as a homesteader and master gardener. Later spending winters in Hawaii, she resumed singing with old jazz, and fell in love with six-string ukulele and Hawaiian music.
Laurel now has returned to her singer-songwriter roots in Duncan, while still enjoying other styles, and growing with a country lifestyle. She sings and plays a 6-string ukulele in her band, the Ukululus, popular locally for "Golden Oldies". She also still likes outdoor adventures, travelling both winter (Mexico) and summer (Vancouver Island) with her trusty travel uke. She currently loves to sing and play swing jazz, old standards, folk, her own originals, and Hawaiian songs. Her 2 CD's, Heartstrings and Soulstrings, reflect a philosophy of love for people, nature and Spirit. She's grateful to have had Greg Bohemen's help on the second EP: playing bass, recording, and mastering. (Thanks!)
As Laurel says in her gardening articles "When not playing music, I'm out digging life, friends and gardens on my beautiful Island." She believes mature life is rich with meaning and joy, if you share your gifts and live on purpose.
May everyone find their own... Love, Laurel
