Greg Bohemen

Bassist, singer-songwriter and founder of Cowichan Valley Grass Roots Orchestra

Upon graduating post-secondary education, Greg moved out to Vancouver Island in 2017 as a road trip to find agricultural work. Music made him stay! He quickly found an upright bass and starting hosting the CVGRO jams in march 2018 at Small Block Brewery.

In June 2019 he won the Cowichan Songsmith competition for “Pacific Trip” which was supposed to allow him to record it professionally and have it play on the local radio station Juice FM. However, the so-called “top producer” tried to hijack the song by using studio musicians and even a different signer. To retain his musical integrity, as well as having time on his hand due to the pandemic, Greg decided to record it himself along with other originals. This project turned into “Acoustic Autopsy” a concept album released in October 2020 (on his 27th birthday).

Since then, he’s been studying under Benedikt Hain and “The Self-Recording Band Academy” and flagship mentorship program. The re-recorded version of Acoustic Autopsy is set for release in April 2023.
